The school is located in the historical town centre of Chiavari between Cinque Terre and Portofino.
On the second floor of an attractive Art Nouveau building, the school has characteristic balconies with flowers, and bright, spacious classrooms; each room is furnished in a different style but all have their own particular marine atmosphere. The school uses traditional slat blackboards (slate being local to the area) and has a well-stocked library, tape recorders, a television and DVD player. Students may also enjoy an Italian coffee or light snack with the teachers during lesson breaks. All teachers are mother tongue and their competence and professionalism guarantee lessons of the highest quality.

The school offers an excellent choice of accommodation: students can stay with an Italian family to be fully immersed in Italian or alternatively choose to stay in a self-catering apartment or in a hotel.

The school is officially certified by the Italian Ministry of Education, accredited by the Swedish Further Education Council (CSN) and by the Land Hamburg and collaborates with the University of Genoa. It offers preparation for CELI and CILS Italian language exams and provides assistance with visas for students.

The school team is convinced that one of the best ways to learn a language is practising it while enjoy spare time activities: that is why Nel Blu organizes games, treasure hunts, parties and other forms of entertainment to allow students to learn while enjoying Italian or local traditions.

The school organizes a weekly social program for the afternoon and evening, with excursions (leisurely walks or treks, trips by ferry-boat, etc.) to the most famous tourist resorts in the area, cultural activities, films, parties, dinners in pizzerias or restaurants, visits to museums, discos or picnics on the beach. Students will find plenty of sport facilities in Chiavari and the surrounding area: tennis courts, swimming pools, diving centers, sailing clubs, canoeing, horse-racing, gold and mini-golf clubs, etc.
